INTRODUCTION

Water is the source of civilization. A society can't function without it. Whether you look at a map of how the world is right now, a 100 years ago, 500 years ago, or 2000 years ago, you will notice that almost every city has a source of water. Now look at the biggest cities, for example: Guangzhou, New York, Mumbai. These cities were able to grow to this size, not just because they were adjacent to a body of water, but mainly because they were built on a delta.

That is why this site will explain everything about the Pearl River- and the Mekong River Delta, in detail!

PEARL RIVER DELTA

The Pearl River Delta is one of the most densely urbanized regions of the world. Located in the southern part of China where three big rivers flow into the Guangzhou Delta.

Apart from being a very densely populated area, it is also a huge economic hub, so the importance of this urban delta is felt throughout Asia.

MEKONG DELTA

The Mekong River is one of the most important rivers in Southeastern Asia, it flows through 6 countries and it ends into the biggest delta in the region.

Even though the river has always been tough to navigate for ships, it has maintained an important status throughout history and continues to do so.

But there is also a big contrast between the two urban deltas, which is a very important fact to pay attention to.
